March Madness

IMG_1923_1.JPG

March is a crazy month in the Barrowman Casey family. First, we have birthdays: my husband, my brother, and one of my nephews have birthdays within a week of each other. John’s is first. Actually, Andrew, my middle brother’s birthday is the first of the siblings. His is February. John’s is March. Mine is April. I’d like to say that my parents like order, but I think it’s really that they like to have sex (ew! can you say that about your parents?). Between the birthdays, we have St. Patrick’s Day, which, having married a Casey, is a day for me to eat an American version of Irish soda bread and wear more green than I usually do. Then it’s midterms at my college and the pile o'papers and projects I have to read increases dramatically – I know. I know. If I didn’t assign so much I wouldn’t have to read so much, but where’s the fun in that? After midterms, we had our Spring/Easter break, and this year we got more frickin’ snow. Stop it already!

Clare came home from university for her spring break and we watched some trashy TV, some movies, and shopped. We saw Horton Hears a Who in the theatre. Loved it. Watched Enchanted on DVD. Loved it even more. I think Clare has now seen Enchanted 223 times. Clare may know the starting line ups of the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Twins, but she also knows the dialogue to every Disney movie with a princess in it (she bleeds glitter). Plus she loves ‘McDreamy.’

Over the Easter weekend John was in Toronto filming the early rounds of Canada’s version of ‘How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria,’ which will run sometime in June and July (maybe if you’re from Canada and reading this you can let me know when). We all didn’t want John spending his Easter by himself so Clare flew to Toronto to hang with him for the weekend. When the two of them get together, it’s a bit like the outrageous older brother and his rowdy little sister so I’m pretty sure they were quite a few silly antics in the Toronto hotel (things I never hear about in any detail until months after the fact). At least they were both allowed out of the country. John slept most of the way home in the plane. Clare crashed when she got back to her apartment.

For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been working with John on his concert programme. For those of you who are lucky enough to have tickets – wow, what a night you’re going to have. My parents will be with him for the entire tour. Say 'hello' if you see them.

All for now. I have to go read papers.

Cheers,

Carole

Sounds like fun, wish I was in the UK to see him, but alas I'm in the states.

Glad you guys are getting the snow this year and not PA, hahaha.

We have 6 family birthdays in November, which makes financial planning for Christmas somewhat of a challenge! Seeing John in concert in Manchester and looking forward to hearing his beautiful voice live. Hope your Mum and Dad have a great time, of course we'll say hello, after all they're TV stars now after their appearance in Hotel Babylon!!

My family is like that with birthdays. My brother is August, I'm September, my dad is October, my nephew is November and I have a niece and nephew both born four days before Christmas. I also know what you mean about wearing more green than usual. In fact, St Patrick's Day is really the only time I'll wear it as I usually end up looking a little like a giant lime no matter what shade of green it is.

I've said it lots of times and I'll say it again -the UK is being selfish with John. How about a little US tour? And make Arizona one of the stops.

I wonder if Scott realizes that he has his own little fan following? Anyone who can put up with John after all these years, deserves a fan following! (I've read the book several times; Scott deserves a metal of valor)

Hi there
I love your editorial of the tour programme. The concert was brilliant (the Birmingham one)-although brilliant is understating it - your parents look really pleasant (I was however unable to talk to them) I think it’s a given that they are having raised such brilliant kids (If I can get away with calling you all kids & the fact I've only met one of the sibs) I have been lucky to meet John and he is really is pleasant, approachable and always friendly.

And Claire I've just sat down and to watch Enchanted again

I have just got back from the nottingham tour, it was fantastic and more. The stories, songs from the album and others just brilliant. I was lucky enough to be standing next to johns car when your parents got in and your dad put the window down and i was able to talk to your mum and dad, i said you said to say hi and they were lovely and so kind to talk. John came out next and got in the car he is gorgeous and so talented i had a fab time. The programme is great and a nice reminder of the night.

Just to say the Cardiff tour was amazing! I loved the programme too, who's choice was it for the photos? So many wicked ones! I got rather excited when I spotted your Mum & Dad in the audience, do they realise they have a fan following now?! hehe xxx

The tour, and the program is wonderful. Once again, as with the book the programme reads in the same way that John speaks which is lovely.

Saw your Mum at Birmingham during the break :)

The programme is very classly, full of beautiful and funny pics and lots of info. Its also great that there's lots of John and Scott together, they are just so cute together :) We're missing seeing Scott there, so obviously poor john is missing having him there ten times worse than us :(
John's had a fantastic response to the tour and he looks like he's having a wonderful time. I was at the first one in Cardiff and it was great but that was just a warm up !!! Lol !! The others i've been too have been fantastic, he's just getting better and better, and more enthusiastic every concert !!!! By the time Portsmouth rolls around the poor guy will be shattered. And he keeps making me cry :(
Its also great to see your parents at them all. John dragged your poor mum (Marion?) up on stage to sing with him in Glasgow !!!!! She was awesome, now we know where John gets his singing talent from. And wow she's 73 and looking good. Then we had the drama in Newcastle last night with the fire alarms going off !!! Caused by the smoke machine of all things !! Still John kept us entertained with a little impromptu Q&A while we waited. Sadly with John's tight scedule we've not had the chance to talk to him after the concert's, which i think he finds a bit sad, as we all know he likes to talk !!! And bonus for me though he recognized me last night !!! Well my frinds and i have 3 more to go to while John has 5 more to perform. I feel very lucky, and privaleged to have been able to get tickets to so many while others have missed out.
Here's to the next tour :)

Take care
Kath

Thanks for the details, Kath, especially since I'm not able to be at any of the concerts.

Your welcome :)

I have more !!!
Having just got home from seeing John in Colleston Hall in Bristol i have to say i'm now totally convinced he needs to be certified !!! Lol !!!!
Another amazing concert, John went all out with 'Please Remember Me', the most passionately version done so far.
Plus he's been taking along a 'Captain Jack' coat with him and tonight he put it on much to everyone's delight !!!!
Some one said they saw Scott there tonight but i'm not convinced !!! We still miss him :( And i still cried :(
After the concert there was a very large crowd hoping to see a glimpse of John as he leaves the venue. Anyway they had diferent transport today, and as they got ready to pull out of the garage part of the venue, John in his great wisdom decides to stand up through the roof of the van, do his 'Captain Jack' salute and wave to everyone as Sean wisked him away and off to Manchester !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's all for now as i'm not going to Manchester :( But i'll be at Brighton and Portsmouth and let you know what else your brother gets up too !!!!!!

Take care
Kath
